Fact Check:

Social media users are claiming that listening devices were found in the White House Oval Office. One user wrote, “BREAKING: Listening devices reportedly found in White House Oval Office desk.” (RELATED: Greenland Did Not Vote To Join The US)

This claim is false. No media outlet has reported on this claim. The White House did not make this claim in any press releases or briefings.

The claim appears to originate from an account known as Jack Lombardi, who cited a White House spokesperson named Emily Harrow. The account later backtracked on the claim.

A White House official told Washington Free Beacon editor Peter Hasson that the claim was false.

“This post has 1 million views but a White House official tells me it’s (obviously) totally fake and notes that the quoted spokesperson’ Emily Harrow’ doesn’t even exist,” Hasson tweeted.
