A video shared on Twitter allegedly shows Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis saying “mmm hungwy” after being handed a plate of food.

Verdict: False

The claim is fabricated. The video is not legitimate, but instead stems from a parody video with edited audio.

Fact Check:

DeSantis’ presidential campaign has fired about a dozen staffers and is expected to let go of even more in the coming weeks, according to NBC News. This decision comes as the campaign has struggled to meet its fundraising goals and is attempting to cut costs, Politico reported.

A Twitter video appears to show DeSantis saying “mmm hungwy” after being handed a plate of food. This tweet went on to garner over 33,000 likes.

Another tweet claims to show a Forbes article stating that the video is real. “Viral Video Of Ron DeSantis Saying ‘Mmm Hungwy’ Is Completely Real,” the alleged Forbes headline reads.

Neither the video nor the Forbes article are legitimate. however. There are no credible news reports about DeSantis saying this.

The clip stems from a YouTube video titled “‘DESANTIS FOR PRESIDENT’ — A Bad Lip Reading” at around the 22 second mark. As the title implies, these clips have been edited to have different audio. (RELATED: No, Image Does Not Show Ron DeSantis’ Yearbook Quote)

“Not a Forbes video. In fact, we have our own article confirming its fabrication,” a Forbes spokesperson told Check Your Fact in an email. The spokesperson directed Check Your Fact to the article, which actually says the video is “completely fake” instead of “completely real.”

This is not the first time DeSantis has been the target of misinformation online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim alleging his campaign hired Fox News analyst Juan Williams.
