The post stems from a satirical website.
Fact Check:
Brooks has made headlines recently when he announced that his new bar will be serving Bud Light after weeks of Bud Light boycotts for their advertisements that included a trans activist, NBC News reported. The bar is named Friends in Low Places, the same name as one of the singer’s songs, and is located in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Twitter post shared a screenshot of an article headline that claimed Brooks was booed during the Annual Texas Country Jamboree, which resulted in him crying. In the photo for the article, Brooks is bent over with his hands on his knees.
“‘Brooks stood there and just…cried. For a good solid 90 seconds,’” the headline alleges. “Garth Brooks booed off stage at 123rd Annual Texas Country Jamboree.”
The claim is inaccurate. There is no credible news report that suggests this incident occurred. The headline appears to have stemmed from an article on a satirical website called America’s Last Line of Defense Dunning-Kruger Times. This website shares a disclaimer in their “about section” that reads, “America’s Last Line of Defense” network of parody, satire, and tomfoolery.” (RELATED: Did Trump Violate His Court Order And Meet With His Aide Walt Nauta?)
This is not the first time a misinformation has been shared online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim that The U.S. Government sent an extra $6.2 trillion to Ukraine.
