Verdict: False
The video is from 2016. It shows a Syrian hospital, not a Palestinian hospital.
Fact Check:
Israel has continued its ground offensive into Gaza, with the Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health claiming that 8,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have died, while the Israel Defense Forces have noted that 312 troops have died, while over 1,400 Israelis, mostly civilians, died during the Hamas attacks on Oct. 7, according to NPR.
Social media users have been sharing a video, claiming it shows a Palestinian hospital being hit by Israel. The video’s caption reads, “‘We give people warnings’ where are the warnings? They’re getting bombed in their hospital beds.”
However, this claim is false. The video was taken in Syria, not the Gaza Strip. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found that the video was uploaded to YouTube in July 2016, over seven years before the current fighting between Hamas and Israel. The video’s title reads, “Moments documenting the crime: ‘The air strike that targeted Omar bin Abdulaziz Hospital in mid-July.’
“Warning: The video may contain painful scenes that are not suitable for everyone, and it is not recommended for those with weak hearts to watch it. The clip is not intended to shock viewers or encourage violence. It is intended to convey the truth and the meaning of the Syrian people to the world,” the video’s caption reads.
