Verdict: False
The claim is inaccurate. Houthi rebels, who are based in Yemen, have declared war on Israel.
Fact Check:
Israeli missiles struck the densely populated Jabalya refugee camp on Tuesday, CNN repored. Eyewitnesses claim that the attack left a large number of casualties while Israel claims that their attack killed a Hamas leader, however, Hamas denies this.
The Twitter post purports Yemen has declared war on Israel. The post shared a video of a man wearing a backwards hat and white shirt while claiming that Yemen has officially declared war on Israel.
“So Yemen declared war on Israel and not a single major media outlet gives a sh*t,” the man claims. “So #Yemen declares war on #Israel and the #mainstreammedia just pretends it didn’t happen,” the caption reads.
The claim is inaccurate. There is no credible news report that suggests that the nation of Yemen has declared war on Israel. Reports, such as Reuters, have indicated that the Houthi rebels within Yemen have taken credit for certain drone attacks on Israel. The Houthis are not a part of Yemen’s government but are a rebel group backed by Iran.
Yemen’s President Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi continues to struggle to combat the rebels and to stop the flow of weapons to the Houthi militia. He told the United Nations in September that peace is possible if the Houthis “will recognize a singular truth: Only a State that is based on the rule of law and equal citizenship will ensure that our country is stable, safe, and respected in the region.” (RELATED: Video Of Pakistani Air Force Is Old)
