A post shared on Facebook claims China captured 14 Indian soldiers.

Verdict: False

There is no evidence for this claim. The image is from 2020-2021, not 2024.

Fact Check:

Social media users are claiming that China captured 14 Indian soldiers. These posts are accompanied by an image of two Chinese troops dragging an unknown man. One user wrote, “BREAKING- China says it captured 14 Indian soldiers violating its territorial integrity.”

There is no evidence that China said it captured 14 Indian soldiers. No credible media outlet has reported this claim. Neither the Chinese Embassy in India, the Indian Embassy in China or either country’s foreign ministries have announced Indian troops being captured.

Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found that the image is from 2020-2021, not 2024. It was shared on social media in 2024 and shows clashes between India and China. (RELATED: Did Sydney Sweeney Say She Voted For Donald Trump?)

“China leaks new footage of previous border skirmishes with India at Pangong Tso Lake with sticks & stones. In 2020 & 2021, intense clashes erupted between Chinese and Indian troops along the LAC at Pangong Tso, resulting in dozens of casualties,” reads the tweet.

DFRAC also debunked this claim.
