This video is not genuine, but instead shows footage from the military simulation game “Arma 3.”

Fact Check: 

Iran’s recent missile attack on Israel is estimated to cost up to $53 million in damage with over 2,000 claims, but does not include the damage to the Israeli Air Force bases, according to The Jerusalem Post. Over half of the damage was claimed by north Tel Aviv with the town of Hod Hasharon seeing over 1,000 homes damaged, the outlet reported.

An X video purports to show an Israeli attack on Iranian nuclear facilities. The video appears to show a jet, allegedly Israeli, flying at nighttime and being repeatedly shot at. This goes on until the end of the video in which the aircraft crashes to the ground in an explosion.

This footage has been miscaptioned, however. The video actually shows gameplay from “Arma 3,” a military simulation game from Bohemia Interactive. Developers from the company addressed their game being used to spread false claims. They also added tips to help viewers tell if clips were from the game. These tips included checking the resolution of the video and checking for a Heads Up Display, or HUD, that is commonly used in video games.

The video was uploaded three years ago by a channel called Compared Comparison. The channels description reads, “Creating modern military content with ArmA 3 and DCS as the engines to create stories and ‘realistic’, intense simulations.” The video’s title and description also identify the video as “Arma 3” gameplay. The title reads, “A-10 Warthog/Thunderbolt II in Action vs C-RAM – Phalanx CIWS – C RAM – Tracer – ArmA 3 Simulation.”
